It happens to the best of us: the dewy skin you had over the summer and fall turns dry, dull, and chapped with the cold winter air. It’s annoying, but there are ways to turn your skin around if you’re feeling frustrated! Here are our top 5 top ways to beat winter skin:

  1. Drink more water! If we had a nickel for every time we said this, we’d be rich. Your skin won’t stay moisturized if you’re dehydrated from the inside out, so grab your bottle and start hydrating.

  2. Ditch harsh, soapy cleansers. These only strip your skin of its natural oils, drying you out even more! Give oil cleansing a try to remove makeup and dirt gently. Learn more about oil cleansing here.

  3. Don’t skip the SPF. Just because you’re spending more time inside, doesn’t mean it’s time to stop wearing sunscreen. Your skin needs that UVB and UVA protection year-round!

  4. Take warm, not hot showers. We know…sometimes it can feel sooo good to crank the water temperature on a cold day. However, this is one of the quickest ways to dry out the skin on your body and face. Instead, use warm water and preserve the natural oils your body produces. When you hop out of the shower, pat dry and apply a body oil to your skin to soak in even more moisture.

  5. Add moisturizer as needed. One of the benefits of oil cleansing is that it leaves your skin moisturized. However, you may find that your skin needs additional moisture as you age, in winter, or if you live in a dry climate. Add a few drops of moisturizer to your skin in the morning (or before spending time outside) to fight dryness!

There you have it! Try out a few of these tips this week, and you’ll be on your way to soft, glowing skin in no time.
