Is Wearing a Mask Upsetting Your Skin?

Me at work wearing my mask!

Who thought 2020 was going to include wearing a mask to the grocery store? Not me! But, I’m guessing you’ve got a cute one tucked in your purse or hanging from your rearview mirror right now. And while you’re doing your part to help tamp down this virus, maybe you’re noticing that mask-wearing isn’t doing your face any favors. Anyone?

So, here are a few thoughts I have on keeping your skin clear and beautiful for when we can all take our masks off again.

  • It may be an obvious suggestion, but STAYING HYDRATED is always a good idea to bump up your skin’s glow. Also, EATING WELL and getting enough SLEEP are heavy hitters when it comes to healthy skin.

  • DON’T OVER-DO IT WITH YOUR FACEWASH. Your skin produces its own oil as a proper barrier function and over-cleansing can strip that oil so that your skin responds by producing more oil (a.k.a. too much).

  • If your skin is prone to breakouts, WEAR LIGHT OR EVEN NO MAKE-UP under your mask. And just like your mom said in middle school, don’t pick at breakouts. It just makes them worse.

  • My last suggestion is NATURAL ACNE PREVENTION with non-comedogenic oils. Annie James acne roller includes TEA TREE oil and FRANKINCENSE, both of which support healthy skin by helping to prevent inflammation and protect against bacteria associated with acne.

I hope these few suggestions can give you some relief if mask-wearing is taking a toll on your face! If you’ve got skincare questions, we’d love to answer those! Email us at anniejamesproducts@gmail.com.
